Blogging Spree

Was it my 2009 New Year resolution?  Not really, but the new year of 2009 marks the start of my blogging spree.  By January, I have created three weblogs excluding this one: Planet Santalaya (planet.santalaya.com), Indonesian Election 2009 (election2009.santalaya.com), and Airsoft Fighters (airsoft.santalaya.com).  Except for Airsoft, I also put quite a number of articles in them.  All of them are hosted by the domain that my brother, an IT professional, and I put together as our family business web domain: www.santalaya.com.  The RSSes of which, except that of the Airsoft, are available on this blog.

Planet is my attempt to put all that I know about global warming (which is a lot!  I did my doctoral on it!) all in Bahasa Indonesia.  Quite often, I am asked some basic questions about climate change and global warming; those that can easily be learned if only there is one website that contains all of the information, all in simple language that can easily be understood by laypeople, easily accessible.  This website can also be a portal to all other important sources of information on the web (and off, if the softcopy is available and is uploadable onto the website).  The main characteristics of this web blog is to have it as an information source on climate change in Indonesian for Indonesians.

As part of my profession in the carbon market, too, I often am asked about the carbon market, all from the basics to the advanced.  Planet is also my attempt to put all that I know about it, especially about Clean Development Mechanism (a mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol that allows Indonesian entities to get paid by Industrialized countries ones) for voluntarily reducing emissions of greenhouse gases).  Admittedly, their interest in increasing the value of their assets be the driving force.

Finally, as it is a web blog, I put articles about climate change as updates for the Indonesian readers.

Election is my attempt to put together a place where all updates about the 2009 presidential election in the country are placed.  As I would like to understand better how the politics work in this country, and as I would like to put what I am learning out for the public to also be involved, hence the blog.  It would also be an interesting forum for electoral observers to discuss the updates on the biggest manifestation of democracy in Indonesia.

Airsoft is just a web blog for a new hobby I have just picked up.  It is similar with Paintball, except that the bullets are made of plastic pellets, that can be quite hurtful when shot.  The weapons are also very realistic replicas of the real ones.  I have gone to wargames in the last several weeks and am enjoying it quite a lot.

I am very happy to see that things are progressing well with these blogging spree.  I hope to be able to get regular flow of fun-to-read articles on my blog.  And I hope to have you, my readers, enjoy them, too.

Happy New Year!
